In some areas, there are two dozen different options for Medicare Advantage Plans.  These plans typically offer coverage for dental care, glasses or hearing aids, even though Medicare does not.
Think that extra coverage sounds a little too pricey? Some Medicare Advantage Plans cost from nothing to just a few dollars over the Medicare Part B premiums you already pay, but that’s not the only advantage these plans provide. You can join even if you have a pre-existing health problem, with the exception of end-stage renal disease.
There are a couple of caveats, too. Not all Medicare Advantage Plans cover all types of medicine, so confirm whether your prescriptions will be covered before you apply.  Remember, these plans don’t expand your Medicare benefits. They replace the coverage that’s available through Medicare, so you won’t be able to use Medicare’s benefits with a Medicare Advantage Plan.
That makes it essential to check which doctors and hospitals are covered under each different plan. These policies have limited geographic coverage, and typically only cover services from certain doctors and hospitals unless emergency or urgent care is needed. In that case, coverage is good on providers beyond the plan’s regular provider network. Let us know if you’d like to investigate whether one of the Medicare Advantage Plans could increase your Medicare benefits.
