Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plans in West Virginia

Highmark’s West Virginia Medigap plans provide additional protection for West Virginia residents against high medical costs not covered under Medicare. To enroll, you must also enroll in Medicare Parts A and B.

Unlike other types of health insurance, Medigap plan coverage has been standardized to make it easy to compare coverage versus cost. Medigap plan benefits are identified by plan letters. For example, Medigap Plan A has the least amount of coverage, while Medigap Plan F offers the most comprehensive benefits.

Medigap plans are accepted by providers who accept Medicare coverage, and Medigap automatically picks up the charges Medicare doesn’t cover, depending on which Medigap plan you choose.

Highmark offers a wide range of standardized Medicare supplement options to West Virginia customers. Plan G, a popular Medicare Supplement plan which covers everything under Medicare Part A and B except for the annual $233 Part B deductible, costs between $132.94 and $278.08 in 2025.

Highmark’s BCBS WV Medicare Whole Health Balance

One kicker that sets Highmark’s West Virginia Medicare supplement offerings apart: Any member has the option of adding an additional suite of benefits – Whole Health Balance – to their plan. These optional additional benefits include hearing and dental coverage, as well as the Silver Sneakers senior fitness benefit, for an additional monthly premium of $34.50.

In addition to its Medigap policies, Highmark also offers West Virginia residents several Medicare Advantage plans, as well as two prescription drug plans. Medicare Advantage plan availability varies by county. However, Highmark’s Medigap plans are available to West Virginia residents statewide.
