You also have an alternative to traditional Medicare. BCBS is one of the insurance companies that contracts with Medicare to provide Part A and B benefits. These Medicare Advantage plans typically add extra benefits, such as help with eyeglasses, hearing aids and prescriptions.
Medicare Advantage plans operate differently than Supplement plans. Insurance companies offering Medicare Advantage plans contract with doctors, hospitals and other medical providers to charge predetermined rates for services provided to plan policyholders.

Usually no problems. But when there IS a problem, the company is so big it’s hard to get the right person on the phone.

Fight inflation: Lock in Medigap premiums for life
I was reading about inflation heating up and I wanted to tell people about my Blue Cross plan if you join when you are 65 they lock in your rate for life. So if inflation goes up your premium will never go up. The worse inflation gets the better deal Blue Cross Medigap is.. If you’re just turning 65 you should give it a look.
Had to use the foreign travel benefit. It works
I grew up in Paris, and I’m a frequent traveler to Europe to visit family and friends. I had a medical emergency when I was traveling to my original home in Paris, France. My Florida Blue Medicare supplement policy was there when I needed it. But. I only had to pay 80% of the bill at the hospital in France.
Plus, I love having the silver sneakers benefit, which comes with my Florida Blue membership. It helps keep me healthy and active.
7 years with no out of pocket costs
I am 72 years old and have had insurance my entire life. I got a supplemental Blue Cross policy when I was first eligible for Medicaid. In the last seven years of coverage, out of pocket expenses for care other than prescription drugs is zero. My biggest expense right now is medications. But those are partially covered under my SilverScript plan.
THey don't cover long term care 🙁
I thought medicare covered logn term care but they dont it’s only skilled nursing care after a hospital stay my husband will need long term care very confusing
Great Medicare Plan!
Blue Cross has deep roots where I live in Minnesota and it’s a very well respected company. So they were the natural choice for a Medicare policy when I retired and became eligible for Medicare.
There are cheaper plans out there, but Blue Cross/Blue Shield is still a good value.
Since my husband and I joined, we’ve had several claims, but no out of pocket costs for anything. Everything else is taken care of (we have Plan F). So they’ve lived up to their reputation as far as I’m concerned. 5 stars, would recommend.
