What MediGap plans does Humana offer?
Humana offers every MediGap plan except for Plans D and M.

Yes. There’s a $2/month discount if you set up automatic premium payments.
When can I enroll in a Humana Medicare supplement plan?
The best time to enroll is during the Medicare Supplement Open Enrollment window when you first become eligible for Medicare.
This period starts on the 1st day of the 1st month in which you’re age 65 or older and enrolled in Medicare Part B. In some states, you can buy a plan on the 1st day you’re enrolled in Medicare Part B, even if you’re not yet 65.
If you don’t sign up during this window, however, you may have to go through medical underwriting. Humana is one of the stricter companies when it comes to medical underwriting, and will usually deny applicants after the open enrollment period if they have uncontrolled diabetes, AIDS, cancer, or other serious medical conditions.

It can be better
I find the coverage to be satisfactory. The network of healthcare providers is extensive, and I’ve had positive interactions with their customer service team. However, the prescription drug coverage could be more comprehensive, and I’ve encountered some delays in claim processing. The premiums are reasonable, but I’ve noticed a lack of flexibility in adjusting coverage to better suit my changing health needs. Saved my elderly mom’s life
My mom is 74 and has a Medigap plan from Humana One. She’s had a few claims over the years, but nothing significant. Until January, when she slipped on an icy porch pavement and fractured her hip. My brothers and I check on her regularly. But my older brother just left an hour before.
Dad was out of town, so she was by herself for the night. Fortunately, she had a discount on life alert service from Humana One, and my brothers and I signed her up for it, paying her the extra subscription costs. She had the alert button and was able to call for an ambulance. If she hadn’t had the alert button she could have frozen to death outside, because it might have been hours before someone found her.
Humana has higher premiums than some. But one of the extras may have helped save my mom’s life.
Humana’s drug plan
We have Medicare Supplement with a different company, but we bought a prescription drug plan from them just in time. My wife got a cancer diagnosis a couple of months after we added the Part D plan for 78 dollars a month and a $450 deductible, but no deductible for Tier 1 and Tier 2 drugs.
Now she takes a lot of medications that would cost over $4,000 per month all by themselves if we didn’t add Part D coverage during fall open enrollment last year.
It comes in three tiers: Premier, which is the best, but costs the most, Basic, which has higher deductible for tier 1 and 2 medications, and Walmart level.
Don’t get the Walmart level. Invest in the best prescription drug plan you can afford. Because chances are very high you’re going to need it.

WHEN I TURNED 65 MY FRIEND TOLD ME TO BUY A MEDIGAP POLICY I GOT ONE FROM HUMANA. I HAVE DIABETES AND HAD A TOE AMPUTATED (SO FAR) AND HAD MULTIPLE HOSPTITAL STAYS BUT WITH HUMANA MEDIGAP I DIDN’T HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT A PART B DEDUCTIBLE
THEY DON’T COVER HEARING AIDS BUT NOBODY DOES
Medicare advantage has more coverage
I had a humana medigap plan and it was horrible it didn’t cover very much. I switched to a medicare advantage plan and I got a lot more benefits like home meal delivery after I was home after surgery and they also help me with transportation to doctors appointments which was very helpful so I like medicare advantage better. But I have to use their network of doctors which I don’t always like but you can’t have everything where would you put it
I recommend Humana for Medicare Medigap
Humana took good care of us after my husband had a stroke. They even paid for rehab services. They don’t pay for long term care, but we knew that going in and bought a long term care policy from New York Life when we were young and I’m glad we did.
The Humana One Medigap plan also doesn’t cover prescription drugs but we had a good agent at HSA for America who made sure we understood that, and recommended we get a separate Part D plan for that, and that has worked out well for us, too. I looked at what some of these drugs cost without insurance and it’s insane.
There were a few administrative and billing snags along the way but Humana has good customer service staff and they were able to take care of things. Highly recommend Humana for Medicare Supplement.
Great mail order pharmacy program!
I just wanted to say kudos to Humana for their great pharmacy program, Humana CenterWell! I’m disabled and it’s very difficult for me to get to the drug store to pick up prescriptions. Then a friend of mine told me she has a Humana One Medicare policy and gets hers mailed right to her front porch so I looked into it and when I became eligible for Medicare signed up for the same plan. I don’t know what I’d do without them! They even fill 90 days without a problem.
