United World Life Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
Medigap plans, another term for Medicare supplement insurance, help to fill in the coverage gaps left by Original Medicare. These federally regulated plans pick up the charges that Medicare doesn’t cover, thus limiting your out-of-pocket expenses. United World Life Medicare supplement plans give you the option to expand your Medicare benefits and make your coverage more complete.
You need to be enrolled in both Medicare Parts A and B to be able to purchase a Medigap plan. This applies not only to seniors age 65 or older, but to individuals under age 65 who have Medicare Part B due to disability.
In most states, there are 10 available Medicare supplement insurance plans available that are lettered A through N. All insurance companies are required to offer Medigap Plan A, which provides the fewest benefits. Insurers then have the option to sell some or all of the nine remaining Medigap plans.
United World offers five Medigap plan choices — A, B, F, G and M — one of which will very likely provide the array of benefits that will meet your particular needs. The benefits of each Medigap plan are standardized, so you’ll get the exact same coverage whether you select United World or another company. Not all United World Medigap plans are available in every state. When using our Medigap Quotes page to obtain rate quotes, you’ll be able to find out if United World Medigap plans are sold in your location.

United World Medicare Supplement Premiums
To determine your base premium, United World takes into consideration several factors such as: age, zip code, type of Medigap plan, and tobacco smoking history.
There are also three types of Medigap plan premium rating systems that United World uses that will affect your premiums depending on which one is relevant to your policy:
- Attained-age: Premiums increase as you grow older. Aside from age, rates increase due to inflation and other factors.
- Issue-age: Premiums are based on your age at the time of your application. The younger you are during the time you apply, the lower your premium. Rate increases don’t happen because of your age, but will still be affected by inflation and other factors.
- Community-rated: The premiums are the same regardless of age. Rates increase not because of age, but because of inflation and other factors.

Open enrollment is the best time to purchase a United World Life Medicare supplement plan because you’ll have guaranteed-issue rights to the plan you want. This six-month open enrollment period begins once you enroll in Medicare Part B at age 65. During this time, insurance companies cannot deny coverage because of a health condition; you will not have to undergo medical underwriting.
